It’s often said that if your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.
We cover a recipient of the Great Manager Institute and Forbes India List of Top 100 Great People Managers and Leaders 2020, Mr. Gagan Arora, in this article today.
Mr. Arora, CEO, Vertex Global Services is a well-known entrepreneur in the industry corridors. He started Vertex Global Services in 2016 and in a short span of three years, has expanded it to three different continents. Vertex Global Services is one of the fastest growing Business Optimization Solutions Providers that has been ranked 19th amongst 50 most innovative companies across the globe, recently won Awards such as Best Place to Work and India’s Best Company in Business Consulting & Solutions. The brand offers a wide range of services to over 3,000 clients across the world served by 500+ employees globally.
His entrepreneurial journey is nothing short of inspirational. After being bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, Gagan left his cushy job, sacrificed monthly salary and perks, early ventures failed, invested his own money, worked out of a garage with minimal liquidity, came down from leading a 1000-member team to a 2-member company to achieve his dream. He believes that every failure and setback has a lesson to teach and is a step to glory.
Gagan has 18+ years of rich industry experience and proven business acumen. He has worked with several global brands and has been parts of almost all departments. Be it New Business Development Role, Communications, People Management or P&L, Gagan has done it all.
From the very start of his career, he was a leader in making with traits like ‘Solution Oriented’ and ‘Out-of-the-box’ approach. In 2008, Gagan was a part of a team who launched an office for a global company with over 3000 employees in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The city is now deemed as the next big startup hub, but not in 2008. His ability to see and seize an opportunity there won him a lot of accolades then.
Gagan is an excellent people manager and he believes in nurturing the young talent to create great industry work. He has been contributing at multiple industry forums, bodies, and business schools and won numerous accolades at all levels.
One of the most interesting leadership practices that makes Gagan a great leader, is “Servant Leadership”. To ensure that his team comes first, he recently organized a team dinner, wherein he and the leadership team served dinner to the entire team showing their firm belief in Servant Leadership.
Through regular Town-Halls and SWOT meetings, Gagan shares information, feedback and makes it a point to coach every team member personally. Gagan’s practices of balancing work with the right amount of celebration and appreciation opportunities make him a great leader who Connects, Develops & Inspires their team.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery, a poet and an aviator once said,
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to gather wood and divide the work. Instead, teach them to yearn for the endless sea.”
And all our winners of the Forbes India List of Great People Managers and Leaders including Gagan rightly do so.
